Thunder Power TP-610C Charger/Balancer

 

Charges 1 to 6-Cell LiPo and A123 cells, 14 NiCd/MH cells and 6-12V Pb, it can charge, Balance, discharge and cycle batteries and report back full data. It is capable of up to 10 amps (80 watts total) for charging.

 

The marketing folks at ThunderPower arent too chatty about their products so let us fill in some gaps: We like this charger. I use a TP-610C regularly to charge my T-Rex 500 packs (6S, 3200mah) when Im not it too much of a hurry since it will almost charge them at 1C. It incorporates an excellent balancing system and probably the easiest to use interface of all the chargers out there. The 4 button keys and nicely backlit display prompts are very intuitive and you can easily connect up a lipo and get it charging without opening the manual. Another upside is its small compact footprint - 4.65x3.4x1.1 and its light weight - only 9.4 ounces. It will easily find a home in your transmitter case.   The only gripes I have on this unit are the really short balancer leads which dont accommodate charging in a LipoSack or fireproof vault without the charger in the box as well. The charger does not have a fan and can run pretty hot during heavy charging which means it doesnt fare well if you do stuff it in the charger vault with the lipo. Also note that only 80 watts of output power means that the max charge rate on a 6S lipo will only be about 3.5 amps. This less than 1C on your hefty T-Rex 600 packs. Still, its a great, small, easy to use and convenient charger that will charge most 3S and 4S T-Rex 450 packs at 2S.
