The EOS0615I DUO 3 is Hyperion's follow up to the extremely successful EOS0615I DUO and DUO II but with up to 15 amps of charging current.
Its all about the watts! The real issue with selecting the right charger is that most manufacturers give you an amperage rating and a max cells rating to indicate the capabilities of a particular charger. For example the Thunder Power 610C states that it can charge up to a 6-cell lipo and can deliver up to 10 amps. But if you dont look closely, you wont notice that the 610C is only capable of 80 watts total output. Don't misunderstand me, the TP-610C is one of our favorite chargers but it may not be up to the particular task you are about to apply it to. Let me explain..
If you had a 6S 5000mah lipo and you were looking for a charger that would be able to charge it a 2C which would require 10A, then you may select a charger such as the TP-610C for it's 6C, 10A rating but you would soon be disappointed. If you remember EE101 class then you may recall that power (in watts) is equal to volts times amps or P=E x I. So if you plan to charge your 6C (25.2 volt) 5000mah (5amp) lipo at 2C (10amps) your charger would have to be capable of at least 25.2 x 10 watts or 250 watts of output power.
But the TP-610C is only capable of up to 80 watts out so what does this mean? This means that the most that the TP-610C is capable of delivering at 25.2 volts output is 80/25.2 or about 3.17 amps. And if you are trying to charge a depleted 6S 5000mah pack then it is going to take you at least an hour and a half to charge it back up!
This is why the Hyperion chargers focus on watts. And speaking of watts, the EOS0615I DUO 3 is capable of delivering 360 watts to the cause (180w per channel). This means that it is clearly capable of charging a 6S 5000mah pack at 2C and having it up and ready to fly again in 30 minutes!
